The world is a scary place. There is so much hatred. It is hard not to be afraid. So many shootings….many so random. How can we manage? There is only one way and the Psalm answers it for us. “For you alone, O Lord, make me lie down in safety.”

Loving God, give us the wisdom, the courage and the ability to fight hatred with love. AMEN

The road less traveled

The road that Christ followed is not an easy one. The disciples thought they could when asking him to sit at his right and left hand. They later found it was not easy. To choose this path is scary and difficult but it is the right one.

All knowing God, you sent your son to show us what to do. Help us to tread that difficult path. AMEN

We need the rain

Life is always changing. There are good times and there are bad. If every day were the same we would be bored. We need the rain to help us appreciate the sun. That is part of God’s plan.

Infinite God, you know us so much better than we know ourselves. Help us to appreciate all that live brings.

Pray no matter what

My husband, he refuses to worry or pray. He believes if you don’t have one you don’t need the other.–——————House TV program.

I can understand the part about not worrying. Christ reminds us about the lilies of the field and how they are cared for by God. I don’t agree with the not praying part. If we have no worries we should be busy thanking God for that blessing. If, in spite of knowing that we are cared for, we do worry then we should certainly pray. Prayer is critical. It is a connection with our creator. Pray without ceasing no matter what.

Angels at work

It doesn’t matter if you believe in angels. The question is do you believe that miracles still happen? I happen to be one of the people who do. Our expectation of miracles is skewed. The Bible only included major miracles but there are the everyday ones. The ones that you only see if you have your eyes open to God’s works. Pay attention. There still are miracles!

Amazing God, you didn’t stop miracles happening. They still do. Thank you for your loving hand in the world. AMEN

It is so easy to follow the crowd. Our society encourages us to conform. People who don’t follow the group are considered odd. Certainly if we follow Jesus and the things that he did we will be considered odd. After all helping the poor, feeding the hungry, housing the homeless are not high priorities for society as a whole. Yet we are called to do as Jesus did.

God, you want us to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Help us to follow his path in spite of societies ideas. AMEN
