We need the company of other seekers–not answers-————-unknown

Too often we want the answers. Why do bad things happen? Why isn’t the world a better place? I could go on forever.

We have to learn that we don’t need the answers. We probably wouldn’t understand them anyway. Instead we need to be with others who are seeking God. We need to share our stories of “God moments” and hear theirs. That is what will feed our faith.

Parable = story

Jesus tells us stories so our lives will be transformed. —————-Michael Williams

Jesus told parables. We call them parables but they are stories. The stories that he told made sense to his audience. Stories help us to see things differently. They don’t have easy answers. They make us thinks. It is also easy for us to put ourselves in the story. Read the parables!

Forget rules

The truth is a person and that person is Jesus. Jesus is not a set of rules. We humans have tried to turn our faith, our belief, our Christianity into a set of rules. A set of do’s and don’ts. Jesus said love one another. Love God and your neighbor. That’s all it takes. If we could just do those things life would be amazing.

Extraordinary God, help us to see the truth and follow it. AMEN

Pottery is fired to make it beautiful

God is busy shaping us into the best that we can be. Sometimes we forget that growing can bring pain. Pottery is fired in a kiln to make the beautiful vase that we see. Life may not be easy but God has promised to be with us.

Loving God, help us though the tough thing in life and remind us that we can use them to your service. AMEN

All the news about the world around us is so bad. There is so much evil and pain. I Don’t know if it really is worse or just that we learn about it so much quicker. Sometimes it is hard to believe that there is any hope for mankind. Yet good things still happen and babies are born. I guess God hasn’t given up on us yet.

Than you, loving God, for continuing to give us a chance. We just don’t seem to learn. Forgive us our sins. AMEN

Fertilize your faith!

Who plants a seed beneath the sod and waits to see believes in God–——-anon

My grandmother loved flowers. Her garden was wonderful. She worked in it every day…fertilizing, pulling weeds….anything to help the flowers grow. She also spent time every day reading her Bible and praying. She watered her faith the way she tended her garden.

Our faith will not grow if it is not nurtured.

Amazing God, remind us to fertilize out faith by reading the Bible and praying. AMEN

Worry does us no good at all and yet most of us do worry. Jesus tells us not to worry.

Matthew 6:27-29

27 And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?[a] 28 And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.

We need to do as Martin Luther says: “Pray and let God worry.”

Gracious Lord, remind us to turn out worries over to you and then let them go. AMEN

Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs on earth. It is also one of the most important. What can matter more than shaping the lives of others. God sees us as his children and wants us to see what a loving parent looks like. Follow God’s example and love your children with all your heart.

Loving father, you remind us that you love us. Help us to share our own love and yours with our children. AMEN

We cannot stay silent!

martinlutherkingjr1-2xIt is so easy to remain silent. Too often we are with people that we like a someone says something that we violently disagree with. It is much easier to remain silent than to cause an upheaval. But silence can be damning. It reflects back onto us. There are times when we must speak up. If we don’t nip the evil ideas in the bud they grow to proportions that we cannot stop. Speak up!

Great Lord, you expect us to counter evil and stop it before it grows. Help us have the courage to do so. AMEN

The path to peace

The people who have taught us the truth of this statement come to mind quite easily. Jesus, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr. It is obvious that they understood this. All of them changed the world in amazing ways by following the path of peace. It should be obvious to us that walking the path of peace changes things for the better. We should do the same.

lead by example

Loving God, your son showed us the path of peace. Others followed his example. Help us to do so too. AMEN
